Malfi, a Proper Introduction

I wanted to write a post just now about our recent trip to the Baltic Sea shore, but I realized that I never really introduced our most recent addition to the family.

So without further ado, here’s Malfi, our black labrador retriever.

This was him on our trip back from his breeder. He took the 5 hour long car ride home like a champ, and only peed on our back seat once!

We’ve been a chocolate lab family for the past decade. I met Ania when she already had Fado, the lab from our wedding photo, and then we got Rico for Ania’s mom once she moved in with me. But Fado fell ill in his old days and we had to let him go and not suffer. And Rico is 11 years old now, and while his spirits are high, his paws and joints are retirement age and Rico does short walks now, mostly around the house and such.

After Fado passed, and Rico started to struggle on longer walks, we wanted a partner in crime for those miles-on-end trips, and so an idea of another lab came up. And yes, another lab, because no matter how much we looked at other breeds, our hearts always melted for a lab.

Why Malfi? We found this guy shortly after our trip to Italy, where we toured the Amalfi coast. And Amalfi – Malfi just kind of stuck.

Malfi was three, almost four months old when we picked him up. So he wasn’t the tiniest of pups, but he quickly got along with Rico and our cat Fanti. And it was our cat we mostly worried about. But have a look for yourself how all three are getting along just fine 🙂

Fast forward to Malfi being 10 months old today and he’s a large dude standing taller than Rico. He’s also full power and always, absolutely ALWAYS ready for a walk.
