The Franciscan Monastery in Katowice was build in 1908 by the Brotherhood with the help of local masons. The building is huge and really incredible to see in person. For some time now it has been known as the home of the biggest nativity scene in Poland. Nativity scene in general is the theme all around with different buildings housing different types of Jesus’ birth place. One has motorized moving statues, one has actual live animals walking around baby Jesus, and there is a room with a whole lot of small versions of the scene from all over the world.
The biggest and the most beautiful one is inside the church itself, and we were there during a mass given my the bishop himself, which is pretty rare to witness.
