On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me… snow! I realize that this line should somehow rhyme and perhaps even be a little funny, but it’s early in the morning as I type this and my wit hasn’t woken up yet.
But the above line holds true as we decided to get away from the thousands of calories consumed at a typical Polish Christmas table and take a hike up our local Mt. Ślęża. The snow was an icing on the cake, quite literally, and it only covered the very top of the mountain. Everywhere else was just wet and slippery, which I found out the hard way by almost falling on my arse a couple of times. At one point Karolina even saved my life when she held me still while my feet danced around a slippery rock trying to defy gravity. I don’t know how she did it, but she managed to swing me over to a tree near by and I was saved!
After our hike we did stop by Karolina’s home for a taste of them thousands of delicious calories, it is Christmas after all!
A word on our matching shirts: Karolina has a friend from her tour guide days that specializes in the Faroe Islands tourism. We got these shirts to promote his web site www.faroe.pl that he’s putting together as a one-stop-know-everything resource page about the islands. It’s all in Polish, but there is a FOTO tab on the top that has some truly incredible views.
Karo! Karo! Woot woot woot!
Nun ergibt alles Sinn! Das war schon damals himmlischer Flugunterricht!
