TMW#2

This Magical Week was a quick one. Here are my 5 topics of the week.

1. Mom’s Birthday
It was my mom’s birthday this week. Happy Birthday Mom! My sister put together the cool collage on the right, and my dad is convinced of a very strong resemblance of little Maya to little Kasia 33 years ago.

2. Silicon Valley
After a six month hiatus, I finally managed to finish season 2 of the hit show Silicon Valley, and then pretty much took the entire 3rd season in one stride over the weekend. I forgot how awesome that show really was. I’ve only had a very intro-course to a true startup while working for the IdeaLab incubator in Pasadena in California, but I can’t stand to wonder if the big dogs really do throw $1 million dollar parties simply because they can.

Anyway, here’s the all time best scene of Silicon Valley.

And here’s a trailer for the all new season 4 starting April 23rd.

3. Loseit.com
I started using loseit.com to track my daily calorie intake. The website is very good and their iOS app is even better. Best of all, most of the food in my house with a bar code on the box is already in the app. All I have to do is scan the item, select the quantity of consumption, and it will add everything. I’ve never counted calories before (which is obvious by my big gut), but after day two I’m kind of getting the hang of it. It’s all in my head really. After seeing that I only have 20kcal left for the day, I just drink water. It seems so easy and obvious, and yet it’s not.

I have a weight buddy who’s also using the app to shed some weight, a phone call every now and again helps to keep each other honest. Still, it’s rather funny and odd at the same time to see every banana, cup of coffee, or cereal listed with their individual calorie weight. It puts my weight into perspective. Here’s to shedding 10kgs!

4. Almost Had It
Looking for a car turned out to be more of a chore than we anticipated. We need to get a wagon of some sort for our dog. Fado hanging around the back seat of our sedan Toyota has effectively turned out 4-door car into a 2-door hatchback. We had a look at a couple of Skoda Octavia’s but each one had something wrong with it that made us walk away. Yesterday, however, we found this Toyota Avensis wagon, a great looking car with a great ride to boot. Signed papers in hand, we headed home where after closer inspection of some pictures I found some weirdness to the car. Basically there were certain shadows in the paint of the front doors, and the following day we confirmed that there must have been some sort of an accident and that car isn’t all that new-ish after all. So we cancelled the deal. But I’m hopeful we’ll find something soon!

5. Easter Breakfast

Finally Easter’s over. Don’t get me wrong, I like to spend quality time at home with the wife, but Easter is just too much food. It all starts with the Sunday breakfast and only explodes in good food and tasty cakes from there. I know, it’s a nice problem to have, too much food. I am thankful for what we have and hope this trend will continue for years to come. Anyway, here are some photos of the breakfast setup.
