Today Poland celebrates Fat Thursday, a day of feast celebrated mainly in Polish, German, and Greek cultures. It occurs on the last Thursday before Lent, which of course is a time of fasting, thus making this day the last opportunity to feast until Easter.
Pączki, home made equivalent of donuts, are the sweets of choice of most Polish households. We had three huge boxes of them at work today and Karolina bought the four you see on the photo attached. I personally only had two pączki today but my ass is still jiggling from all the sugar. In an odd attempt to discourage the ever so popular holiday, the radio station we listen to at work continuously mentioned all the empty calories hidden within comparing it to other food categories and pointing out that just one pączek equaled one hour at the gym. Guess I’m two hours in the hole then.
Mhmm…paczki…. 🙂
Its no wonder I have a hard time losing weight! 🙂
