In what could definitely be classified in the top ten of the stupidest things I have ever done, I managed to drop a GoPro camera into a cup of tea on my desk, without its waterproof case.

There, I said it. Stupid. I won’t get into the series of events that led up to it, I’ll just state that Murphy’s law was well in effect here. Naturally I panicked, spilled tea out right away, but camera shut itself off. Dead. I blew it all out with compressed air, let it dry out for a while, and managed to get some signs of life out of it, mainly LED’s blinking here and there, but nothing more.

So I did the oldest trick in the book, I let it sit on rice in my kitchen cabinet. Sure enough it’s back to working order today, and I can breathe a little easier now. I’ll let it dry a couple more days in there and then will test all of its bells and whistles to ensure proper functionality, but it seems that WiFi, recording, photo, and basically all else is working correctly. Pheww!
